Apple is gearing up to unveil the second-generation product of its wildly popular item tracker, AirTag. Not much information is known as of now, but quite a few tell-tale reports now indicate that its sequel – the AirTag 2 – will boast some very significant advancements over the preceding generation.
One of the major upgrades is that this device will be equipped with Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology. It’s a technology already available in other Apple devices such as iPhone 14 Pro models. With UWB, users may find lost items within a larger precision, especially indoors.
Long battery life will also be enhanced. Although the original AirTag already boasts a pretty impressive battery life, the firm is trying to extend it as much as it can with the AirTag 2 by optimizing hardware and software to hopefully cut down on the need for the battery replacement cycle.
Lastly, the new AirTag 2 shall come with improved resistance to water. The new version of the device will make it more solid and, therefore, prone to continuing operation even under exposure to any form of water and other elements.
Even though these are the major improvements expected in the AirTag 2, there might be other surprises that may surface through it as Apple has been noted to introduce amazing features through its products.
Release date and pricing Apple has yet to make any announcements on its official release date and pricing of the AirTag 2. Still, as in previous tradition, this should be expected along with other new lines of Apple products, such as the iPhone 16 series, fall of 2024.
Sure enough, with Apple yet to officially announce it, the chance of a much more powerful and much more versatile AirTag 2 for millions of users worldwide is exciting.
